First arrived in Costa Rica during the global pandemic in March of 2021. At the time, Matthew was residing in Manhattan, New York. Upon arriving and Matthew was struck with the natural beauty of the Valley provinces: rolling landscapes and seemingly endless Mountain-Valley views. However, by night three of watching the sunset on a quaint beach in the pacific coast, there was a different feeling inside-one that had either been forgotten or depressed out of him during the Covid lockdown. “I don’t know if it was a feeling of anxiety washing away, or simply being in the exact opposite type of environment than New York, New York, but I had the understanding that I needed to spend at least a few months of my life here, every year for the rest of my life. Now that I live here en la zona sur (southern pacific zone) full time and share the beauty of life here with my young daughter, I feel as though everything happens for a reason.
After two+ years of full-time life in Costa Rica, the feeling of physical strength and mental clarity is almost impossible to put into words. Apart from living in an environment with the highest standard of human longevity, any one can come create their life and buy or build a home to maintain the integrity of mother nature.
